At-Home Nasal Congestion Assessment

At-home endoscopic assessment for nasal congestion complaints that disrupt sleep and quality of life.

Nasal congestion can stem from many causes, including a deviated septum, enlarged turbinates, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis or adenoid enlargement. Long-standing congestion can noticeably affect sleep quality, daytime performance and overall comfort.

During the at-home examination, the nasal cavity and nasopharynx are examined in detail with a portable endoscopic imaging system; the source of the congestion is assessed and a suitable treatment approach is determined.

Who this is suitable for

  • Long-standing nasal congestion on one or both sides
  • Sleeping with an open mouth, snoring and poor sleep quality at night
  • Congestion accompanied by allergic complaints
  • Congestion in children with suspected adenoid enlargement

When this isn't suitable

  • Cases accompanied by significant respiratory distress
  • Congestion with nasal deformity following trauma
  • Congestion accompanied by a nosebleed that won't stop

Frequently asked questions

Can the cause of nasal congestion be identified at home?
With endoscopic imaging, the nasal septum, turbinates and nasopharynx are examined in detail; in most cases the source of the congestion can be assessed. If further testing is required, a referral is recommended.
Can it be determined at home whether surgery is needed?
Treatment options are discussed based on the examination findings; when a surgical decision is required, additional hospital-based evaluation may be recommended.
