At-Home Throat Lump Sensation (Globus) Assessment

At-home endoscopic assessment for the sensation of a lump or something stuck in the throat.

The sensation of a lump or something stuck in the throat (globus) is a common complaint; it can be related to causes such as reflux, post-nasal drip or muscle tension. Although the complaint usually stems from benign causes, an assessment is important to rule out an underlying problem.

During the at-home examination, the throat, larynx and vocal cords are examined in detail with a portable endoscopic imaging system; whether an organic cause is present is assessed and a suitable treatment approach is determined.

Who this is suitable for

  • A long-standing sensation of a lump or something stuck in the throat
  • Throat complaints that may be related to reflux or post-nasal drip
  • A sticking sensation felt without pain while swallowing
  • Complaints accompanied by hoarseness or frequent throat clearing

When this isn't suitable

  • Progressively worsening true difficulty swallowing solid foods with weight loss (further testing takes priority)
  • Cases accompanied by shortness of breath
  • Severe pain starting after swallowing an actual foreign object such as a fish bone

How the process works

Send your complaint and the address for the visit by phone or WhatsApp.

  2. Your visit is scheduled

Once availability is confirmed, your home visit is scheduled directly — no pre-assessment or waiting process.

  3. Examination at home

When needed, an assessment is carried out in your environment using a portable endoscopic imaging system.

Frequently asked questions
